Batimento Dúo
Batimento duo is an instrumental proposal which explores the sound and expressive possibilities of the guitar ensemble. Starting from regional music, they approach musical practice from various perspectives, focusing on the River Plate genres of tango, vals, and milonga. They create original arrangements with a personal take on these genres. The repertoire selection is primarily due to the works' connection to Uruguay, highlighting the country's importance in tango and music as a cultural integration factor in the region. They have performed in both traditional milongas and major theaters and venues in Uruguay, such as Teatro Solís, Sala Zitarrosa, and Sala Hugo Balzo - SODRE. They have opened for Yamandú Costa at the Montevideo International Guitar Festival, participated in the XVII International Tango Festival of Medellín, and performed at the XVII World of the Guitar Festival in Kaluga, Russia. They have toured Japan and played in England, Finland, Bolivia, Argentina, Costa Rica, and Ecuador. Additionally, they published a book with the scores of their arrangements and the history of tango in Uruguay, supported by CIATyC, which was translated and published in Japan in 2023. Their first album, "Marginal" was nominated for Best Tango Album at the 21st Graffiti Awards.
